So, now that I've finished #inking my hands for tonight with both Hongdian and Diamine #ink, I have a question for the #fountainpenlovers on Mastodon / the Fediverse...

I have a pair of #hongdian M2's, and I noticed the other night that there is an issue with the cartridge converter... Basically, when the piston is extended it hits the top of the feed tube, and pushes the body of the converter up. This causes there to be no vacuum for the first turn of the shaft when you are trying to fill the converter.

Now, I know the "easy" answer is to not lower the piston that far -- but that leaves a significant gap, which will keep a significant amount of space in the converter (I'd guess around 0.1ml).

Has anyone found a fix for this? Or has anyone found a better fitting converter for the M2?

Well,, we're back from #PelikanHub2025 and the ink is a very pretty Apricot. From my perspective it is a pretty special one - because it is a plain ink. No sparkle, no shimmer.

This is important to me because I use ink-roller pens, not fountain pens, and so the shimmer and sparkles don't work.

I also scored some very nice #Diamine and #Monteverde inks from the door-prize gift swap.

As always, a fun evening, and scored some great loot!

I have been re-working my Inkvent Display design, and have turned it into a more general-purpose desk organiser.

The new version has a cutout for the 30ml bottle, space for more pens and a larger bottle of ink on the top shelf, and a side box for notebooks, sketchpads, or whatever. The side box also slides out to reveal a CL sized internal drawer.

Print it with a fuzzy skin and a wood filled filament, and you get something that looks pretty classy!

There is also an untested variant with a hidden internal shelf, suitable for a pen, key, or a rolled up treasure map.

If you think this might be your thing, check it out!

Pen and Ink Desk Organiser by rdmasters

Derived from my Inkvent Display design, this is a more general purpose organiser. It will hold 27 10ml ink bottles, 1 30mk bottle, and space on the top shelf for a larger bottle. There are also 6 20mm diameter pen holders, 7 14mm ones, and 8 12mm ones, of varying depths. On the side is a 38x170mm box suitable for notebooks, sketch pads up to A5, envelopes, or similar. The side box pulls out to reveal a CL sized internal tray. There is a variant with an additional concealed shelf inside (suitable for a key, pen, or rolled up treasure map), but I have not tested that one for printability.

Been going through a stub nib phase again and I've been using a few that I haven't used in quite some time. What can I say, I party pretty hard

auxiliary question: can anyone recommend a fountain pen with a similar feel/style?

Mine is a classic #waterman Allure.
Strong and easy to write with.

Ok I guess I get it here enough for an #introduction post.
