Been a bit quiet as I've been busy and not feeling well, but the new shiver of Sharks I ordered back in February arrived yesterday.
All new colors except black (which is one I had to trash, so that's good for me), half are semi-transparent/translucent, a couple more are slightly translucent.
The nibs are not hooded on these, and the sections are completely round. Both seem like downgrades to me. I liked the hooded nibs.
I'll clean at least one and test it when spoons replenish.
As the saying goes, āThese are the problems you WANT to have.ā
I havenāt spent a lot on #FountainPens because Iām happy with the experience and performance of my Pilot Metropolitan and Kaweco Sport. I have a few others, but I havenāt found a reason to get a more-expensive pen because these are so good!
Donāt ask me about #SlideRules, though. Every time I think I have all of them I need, I have an āOh! Shiny!ā momentā¦

Soon, Iām going to issue a challenge. The āDonāt Buy Shitā Challenge. Iāll write more about that tomorrow, but for now you need to understand what has prompted that challenge. Iāve bought āsomeā fountain pens. Iāve talked about this new hobby of mine before and Iāve mentioned it several times on the podcast, but itās worse than I want to admit. I now have at least two dozen fountain pens. Now, none of these were overly expensive, at least when you learn that some pens can cost thousands of dollars, but they are not 10 cent Bics either.

The frosted guave looks a lot more tender in person than on the photo, but it also just doesn't look good at all when applied in thick drops like the bottom sample. It is adorable when applied thinly, while Apple Button looks better to me when applied generously.
I love how the writing of Frosted Guave looks when applied on top of a wash of itself.
