Zulip is a wonderful blend of the good old forums' ability to keep information accessible, and Discord's fast-paced formula; the way it's organised and displayed to the user is fairly unique and slightly alien, but it presents an amazing opportunity to sort and organise the discussions in your community space.
You know how the Discord threads are kind of useless?
Zulip puts threads, or "topics", front and centre - when you click on a channel, you end up browsing the most recently active topic, and see a list of other available topics. You can start and archive topics as you see fit. Archived and resolved topics are out of the way, but still accessible rather than getting lost under piles of fresh messages.

looking for a #foss program that allows me to draw in a pdf without annoying "splitting it into pages -> exporting it as an image -> doing the drawing -> converting back to pdf -> unite all the page-pdfs" workflow.
I just want to use my drawing tablet to fill in some forms that were made for printing the pages.
any recommendations?
EDIT: xournalpp works for me!
hmm I wonder if there is a good Android app that just turns wifi on on my phone whenever gps senses me to be vaguely at home/work/othrr preset places

What would be a good FOSS self-hostable for a buy nothing group? Apparently Facebook is deleting them, and I wanna convince the ppl on a different corporate software to have our next backup be on a website controlled by the admins of the group (in some way, whether technical or telling a host/sysadmin what to do)
But what sort of software should I suggest? Or what existing websites/apps could be used that seem to be pro-labor/anti-censor?
Replaced Feedly with #Miniflux for news aggregation.
One more awful thing off the list.

Loops and PixelFed creator dan is problematic for a variety of reason including the fact that he continues to not share current code for Loops, is very immature/rude, and he 'joked' about adding ads.
This post goes into credible detail about the code stuff:

You have the right to make an informed decision on whether to support this. I certainly wouldn't support or use Loops ar Pixelfed though.
If any FOSS socials deserve/need funding, it's Vidzy, a very new, truly FOSS, TikTok alternative that needs more developers and support. You also could always support Mastodon servers.

Interesting how the #Loops repo is marked as AGPL 3.0 code on github, and yet the backend server being used by the loops app is actually running newer code which has not been released to the public yet. This is a violation of the AGPL 3.0 license clearly displayed on the project's github page, and all users who have interfaced with the Loops API are *legally* entitled to the updated backend source code too... where is the code? why are they so against just releasing the code in compliance with their own license already? smh https://github.com/joinloops/loops-server
http://zipline.diced.sh is so much better for file sharing than Nextcloud it's not even funny.
Picked up https://www.usememos.com/ as a replacement for Google Keep and iCloud Notes. It's super simple to set up with Docker, has a web app, supports tags, markdown, checklists, attachments, and editing, and resembles the Google Keep from some years back.
The way it's set up, I wouldn't expose it to the internet - doesn't look like security has been considered at all.
I'm just using Tailscale for access.
It's neat and I like it.
Also planning to ditch Nextcloud for public file link sharing and move to Zipline instead later today.
Hey fedi,
I look for a self hosted music streaming server
