Today we went to Titters Hill near Thornbury, which is one of several planting sites for the New Western Forest, which is planned to create a wildlife corridor around Bristol and Bath connecting the Forest of Dean down to the Mendips.

The central aim for this new broadleaf plantation is carbon sequestration. Good to witness nature restoration efforts such as this first hand, but it’s also bizarre the amount of hope and optimism society is placing in these modest saplings.

This is a section of the Cumberland Mountains in West Virginia, from which Bluesource LLC (now rebranded as anew) has earned 8,018,855 carbon credits.

The property is registered with American Carbon Registry and uses the Improved Forest Management methodology of the ARB Compliance Protocol for US Forest Projects.

In one month I will be just starting a residency at ZK/U Berlin with environmental geographer Theo Stanley, where we will be working on a project around the visual cultures of carbon accounting in forestry.

Started work in earnest on this #ForestCarbon collaboration with Theo Stanley today.

The forest carbon monitoring project has generated a biomass decrease mask for Sentinel 2 and applied it to remote sensing measurements of above ground biomass in Europe.

Bridging the Gap in Carbon Verification: GEO-TREES

Understanding the GEO -TREES Initiative Tropical forests globally require increased focus and resources due to the ravages of fires and unauthorized logging. Numerous for-profit entities are increasingly participating in the reforestation of these forests, aiming to earn profits from carbon credits. However, critics contend that the actual carbon reduction effects
