Putin and Xi were discussing long-life and medical advances to extend lifespan (it's actually called gerontology, as a field).
And they have a genuine interest in that.

So... we should not fear a nuclear reaction from them (that they threaten), at any time.
As nuclear hazards are radically opposed to the likelihood of a healthy aging. Yes, even when it's at thousands of kilometers.

So, that is the final and definitive end of any plausible nuclear fear-mongering from the side of Russia, China (and US too in that camp by the way, through MAGA's unhinged warnings of "possible apocalypse" and so on).

After Russia collapses, all of its fragments will mechanically become China's satellites. Not even mentioning that China is trying its best to help Russia win (and thus not collapse).

Which illustrates that the problem is more complex than many commentators (e.g. Paul Warburg) seem to think.

China is fully on Russia side and supporting Putin's war. While trying to pass off as neutral in front of the West, just for the purpose of buying precious time, to be best prepared for the next, hotter, steps.

The Cambodia-Thailand conflict may actually be the beginning of the war led by China against the US-Taiwan-Japan bloc in the Pacific.
China is completely supporting Cambodia's army. And Thailand is a MNNA (Major Non-NATO Ally). However it has also allied military links with China (joint exercises etc). Which makes the analysis difficult.

Analysis of China's "We cannot afford Russia to lose the war." :

- that means they need to do everything to ensure Russia does not "lose the war", with "losing the war" meaning " having to stop killing Ukrainians and destroying their nation".
- so China thinks they must ensure that Russia continues its war of aggression against Ukraine, without being hindered by anyone.
- China, thus, is prepared to supply everything to Russia, heavy weapons, drones, tanks, and missiles included, so that they successfully crush and destroy Ukraine as a nation.

What can we deduce further?
That China did not "suddenly" come up with this idea, and so that China is almost certainly already supplying Russia with everything (military, economy, or industry) they need to keep advancing on the battlefield and killing Ukrainian democracy in the end.
