Originally only in southwest #Germany, now also in #Berlin and around my house and inside my living room. The #hoary #footman #Eilema #caniola (#Erebidae, #Lepidoptera) is a #moth that is particularly #thermophilic. Caterpillars feed mainly on #lichens.
The gradual #spread of the moth within Germany is partly well documented. In 2014 it was detected in Lower #Saxony. From 2017 in Berlin--Staaken.

The #DingyFootman might be a dull name for a #moth but it’s probably the most #beige moth you’ll ever see.
Nevertheless, this was one of the very few to have been recorded in #NorthernIreland, at #WWTCastleEspie (red dot on map).
