Follow Packs

Have spent a lot of time developing catagorized lists of great accounts to follow here on Mastodon. These "Follow Packs" include politics, cybersecurity, climate, astronomy, legal, science and more. You can follow entire packs into Mastodon lists using a somewhat cumbersome technique described in the quoted thread. They may now be somewhat dated, but if you are looking for accounts to follow you might want to check these follow packs out.

The second post is a Follow Pack Directory listing hundreds of good accounts by topic. You can click on any one to see their profile and follow them.

Alternatively, check out the Follow Pack FAQ to import groups of follows into topical lists.

"Starter-Pack" & "Follow-Pack".

2 separate terms for the same thing.

They give you a collection of people and other users to follow.

They help new users find people to follow — so they don't have an empty home-feed. But they also help existing users find more people to follow.

I am going to (combine the 2 labels and) start calling them Starter-Follow-Packs.

At least one implementation of starter-packs / follow-packs for the Fediverse is will NOT allow you to add someone to starter-pack / follow-pack if that person has set their account to NOT be "discoverable".

(Being "discoverable" or not shows up in the activity (application/activity+json) file for the user.)
