The #governor of our state, #Florida, Ron #DeSantis, wants to finish destroying Florida's #environment and #tourist appeal by putting #hotels and #GolfCourses in our state #parks, where many extremely #endangered #species live.
This proposal to put manicured landscapes in parks will pour excess #nitrogen into the nearby waters, potentially creating #toxic #algae blooms.
We categorically condemn this nonsensical policy, and if you are a #Floridian, please call your state #representative, state #senator, and leave messages for #RonDesantis.
Gov. Ron DeSantis has enjoyed rock solid support from the Republicans who dominate state politics. It has been rare for DeSantis to get pushback on anything from GOP lawmakers, and he has a reputation for seeking vengeance when they do. But it appears a political line in the sand is being drawn after DeSantisβ administration announced plans this week to carve out golf courses and pickleball courts in Floridaβs beloved state parks from Miami to the Panhandle. Unlike the issues of abortion, LGBTQ rights, race and guns that have divided voters, state parks apparently hold a place in the hearts of Floridians regardless of party.
