To those who didn't attend the FLINTA Cruising at #39c3, or who did, but did not follow all the chaos, here is what happened:

We all got in Hall 6, and then fire safety told us there were too many folks in the room (with many overflowing outside). They said we couldn't have more attendees than chairs, which would mean throwing out what felt like more than 3/4 of the attendees out.

Thankfully, @Zackstarkid (who was organising the session) managed the crowd in a very effective manner. They gave instructions quickly and clearly, and reassured everyone all the way. I really admire the endeavour, I feel like I would have just called off the entire thing in their shoes.

Someone suggested we go to Hall F, because it's free. We all went there, we broke an escalator while doing so. But then, the door was locked. I lent my DECT to Zack so we could call PL, and they said the room could not be used because the necessary staff from CCH was not on site.

Then @LilaHexe saved the event (without even being the one organising it) by asking the group in Hall E if they could trade rooms with us. It was a communist meetup which, seemingly, got a room bigger than they needed, when we got a room smaller than we needed.

It was a fever dream of hope and disappointment until the news broke that we would trade rooms, and everyone cheered. The commies left the room in a thunder of applause and some of us sang some kind of communist anthem.

It seems to me that everyone fit in the new room, as there were still some chairs available.

Also, @c3sign, helpful as always, rushed into the room to put up useful notices saying "no sex" and "do not smoke the lube". Thank you, @braid

The cruising was great and I had a lot of fun, and the other folks I know did too.

So I've been reading through the second Flinta Party that happened at 39c3: and holy smokes it sounds amazing! I'm not really a kissing gurl, but it looks like a fun time was had by all, even when clothes are mandatory (you know the last one got outta hand when the con HAS to put up a "No Sex Allowed" sign this time around)! 🥺

If I ever do end up going to CCC - it'll be to attend a future Flinta Party if nothing else!
