Hollyhock Pink with Pedernal, Georgia O'Keeffe, 1937

I don't understand why I think this is good, my brain likes it even though it's very simple and maybe childlike or naive. I think it partly has to do with the sky and maybe the full range of intensities and balance. The flower is big enough to balance the earth and the sky is big enough to balance the flower. The pink cliffs seem to indicate that the flower magic is worked into the substance of the world. The Sun is pumping its big heart into the hard earth. And maybe that flower would fit right on top of that prominence ✨

Pedernal is "flint" in Spanish.

Michael Moore was right about a Donald Trump victory, and now he has a plan

This wasn't the first time Michael Moore accurately predicted a Donald Trump presidency.

"Hoarding arrowheads" – who does that? Or better: who did that?

According to the original publication, the 'Ballyclare Hoard' was found in 1968 in County Antrim, Ireland. It contained 39 finished arrowheads and 2 flakes. Their form suggests the early/middle bronze age as the origin, which pollen stuck to them doesn't contradict.

However, it seems that it couldn't be determined, when they were buried: no bones, no structures in the vicinity.

The hoard is now in the Ulster Museum. The post that caught my attention: https://bird.makeup/users/kpw1453/statuses/2055166977920884914

The ‘Ballyclare Hoard’ - a collection of barbed and tanged flint arrowheads that date to the Mesolithic. It was discovered in 1968 during the construction of a housing estate in Ballyclare. Now part of the collections at the Ulster Museum. 📸 My own. #FindsFriday #FlintFriday

What I suspect is a flint core, picked up at work yesterday. There is a vein of redness running through the grey, coinciding in part with a band of tiny glittering crystals on the broken surface. A camera phone really cannot do it justice, I'm afraid! I wonder if the red vein and crystals governed the choice to work the flint? #Geology #Flint #Archaeology #Prehistory #Lithics

Logo from #Flint, #Michigan based fast food chain, Halo Burger. The logo is printed red and white, showing the face of a cow, looking up at a halo over its head and licking its lips. At the top of the logo is the name #HaloBurger and at the bottom of the logo shows the chain's slogan, "heavenly".

I've always thought the logo was comically morbid.

I didn't know that #Flint's #HaloBurger was founded 100 years ago. I would've guessed around 80 years. Both of my parents talked about going there when they were young; they've since passed away I n their 80s. They took me to Halo when I was a kid, too. Besides their burgers (which I remember looking MUCH better than those in the #MLive photo), I also liked their meatball sandwich. A memorable thing about their burgers is they could also be ordered with olives on top, which my Mom liked.
