Flags must be plausibly for #WorldCup2026.

Domestic or personal flags only, typically on cars or on homes, or being carried or worn.

Embassies, consulates and places that generally fly flags don’t count.

Nor do flags flown by businesses, nor being flown as part of a display of all of the flags.

If multiple players spot the same physical flag, whoever photographs it first that day can count it, not the others.

It’s helpful, but not required, to include how many you’ve got so far:

For the next six weeks or so, @notcontrary ‬⁩& I are playing #flagwatch again, this time for #WorldCup2026.

Feel free to join us, or to mute the hashtag.

The game runs from local midnight where you are on the day the first game starts, to the end of the day of the final whistle of the last game. In most places that’s midnight Thursday 11th June to just before midnight on Monday 20th July.

Compete by tooting a fresh picture of a competing nation’s flag with #flagwatch & their country-code hashtag:

A late entry to #flagwatch ? @ashok
#flagwatch 16/24 #HUN in the parking lot for Canada’s Wonderland, alongside #CAN and #ITA.
The same #BEL @notcontrary spotted, still hanging after going out to France.

#flagwatch 14/24 #ESP, sharing windows with #FRA, #POR and #CAN.
#flagwatch 13/24 #GEO in the pub.

Carried by a very happy #GEO fan at Left Field’s western outpost.
