It's been a while since the last big OpenCPC update -
The new probe that you slide under the respirator to test fit without destructive modification is an interesting development.

Don't sleep on fit tests and eye protection. SARS is gonna keep getting better at transmitting/infecting. Your health and life are on the line.

The black Laianzhi KN100 HYX1002 in medium and large.
Quick disambiguation: the medium has lettering in the middle panel and a straight-edged top panel, while the large has lettering in the bottom and a wavy-edged top panel. Not easy to tell just from the packaging.
The #OpenCPC condensing particle counter in the wild! @masknerd at the #AAAR23 American Association for Aerosol Research conference.
Repost of @masknerd 's tweet about his upcoming talk at the European Aerosol Conference about the OpenCPC: The world's first open source condensation particle counter.
Commercial particle counters are prohibitively expensive unless you can eBay an old working one. The Portacount 8020A I use for respirator fit testing is a discontinued model from decades ago.
Would love to move to unit that we can maintain and keep calibrated if the OpenCPC becomes a reality.
I think we'd best have a conversation about mask efficacy in the context of time-to-infection, viral load and other highly-speculative estimations that have been proffered over the course of the pandemic thus far.
You cannot build a rock-solid scientific model on top of such things.

Can someone share the best mask recommendations for COVID currently? There are some pictures with in-depth test results and comparisons - can people reshare those pictures? (Trying to find them, struggling)

Drager 1920 M/L: Sanity tested a sample from a new Ebay box before stocking up a family member for an overseas trip. The printing on the M/L looks more washed out compared to the S - no particular concerns about the vendor but I may as well make sure.
I'd already passed in the S size, but it looks like the M/L also fits. The M/L scores even higher but feels looser around the nose/chin. Will have to stress test later.
