Gestern mit zwei super-pünktlichen ICEs und zwei ziemlich pünktlichen RBs über #FF nach #FIST (Idstein (Ts)) gekommen, um 10 km im Taunus zu wandern. (Für die Letzte Meile gab es ein privates Shuttle.)

Heute ist aber wieder #BerlinerBrückeChallenge mit Tag 192 (158) und einem der wenigen verbleibenden ICEs auf Linie 26.

A Trio of Game Jams

Itch.io runs the occasional game jam for game designers. A lot of them are for video games, but there are regular TTRPG game jams as well.

Here’s a few upcoming ones that I’m considering joining. They all start on May 1st.

FIST: JAM OPS VI

This jam is for the FIST RPG, which is normally about mercenaries dealing with paranormal events. However, the theme of this jam is “No Funny Business”, by which they mean that they’re asking you to not use any supernatural or sci-fi elements; only real-world things. I’m a fan of FIST, and I’ve always wanted to explore it a little more, so I’m likely to try my hand at this jam.

Some of my initial ideas:

• Rhodesian War
• Dogs of War style mercenary game
• Underwater Exploration – Sealab/Jacques Cousteau/Voyage To the Bottom of the Sea

TTRPG Character Creation Challenge Jam

The idea here is that in each day of May, you create a character in the RPG system of your choice. That’ll be 31 characters in as many or as few RPS systems as you choose.

My plan is to create 31 different characters, for 31 wholly separate games. I’m going to use this as an opportunity to revisit some old favorites, and to try out some games in my collection that I’ve never gotten around to:

• Nexus: The Infinite City
• Raven
• Dark Conspiracy
• John Carter of Mars
• Lords of Creation

If I do this one, I’ll probably post them here at the end of each week.

2026 Street Grimoire Jam

This one’s only two weeks long, so it’s probably the the one I’m least likely to actually do.

The idea is to create a RPG project in the “modern world with traits that connect fantasy and science fiction”. No system is specified. This is probably the vaguest of the three jams in terms of guidance. There are a few optional prompts you can base your project on, but everything else is up to you.

My initial ideas:

• A Monster of the Week adventure. I’ve been meaning to mess around with that system.
• Something with the Cthulhu Hack, my favorite Lovecraftian system.
• A GUMSHOE adventure, probably using Against the Unknown.
• For the RPG-a-Day 2025 event last August, I made a post turning the NJ PATH transit system into a secret urban fantasy setting. I may expand on that idea.
