Set off on a 3 day trip with Moray into Fisherfield, an area in the NW Highlands with several remote Munros.

Day 1 was perfect conditions - cool, breezy, and no midges - but after several hours of incessant rain and wind on day 2 we bailed out. The hills will still be there next time.

Still an impressive 45.9km, 1540m of ascent.

- Fisherfield hills & Shenavall bothy.
- River crossing.
- Camping spot.
- Soggy doggy.

It feels like Sunday. I know its really Saturday, but... whatever.

Here's a photo of Skye and the mountains of Fisherfield the other week.

More photies from Saturday's walk.

A long and tough walk for us today to the remote Loch an Nid. I wanted to recon the route as I'd like to use it to visit the munros of Sgurr Ban, Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchar, and maybe include the corbett of Beinn a' Chlaidheimh as well.

I'd walked the track to Lochivraon bothy which was wet and a bit rough but it doesn't really prepare you for what lies afterwards. Despite the peaty wet feet it was a cracking walk into a fantastic place.

Once past Kernsary the track passes through woods and out onto a boggy path across the moors.
I wanted to get far enough along to get a view of the Fisherfield hills before I had to turn back. I sheltered at the edge of the woods for a squally shower to pass and had lunch.

Carrying on I met a couple and dogs who'd spent NYE at the bothy, in the company of 2 climbers.. Fantastic!

The views, as far as they were still, were definitely worth the effort.

I went for an explore today from Poolewe towards Carnmore. Skye met the horses at Kernsary - and was well behaved! It rained quite a bit but there were occasional breaks.

This is A' Mhaighdean with Ruadh Stac Mor.
