#gifted from #firestonewalkerbrewing, on its tenth anniversary since Gen-1, Firestone Walker revisits the beer that launched the Gen series, reimagining the original Gen-1 through the lens of a decade's worth of experimentation at The Propagator. The result is Gen-10, a contemporary "West Side IPA" that honors its origins while embracing the present.

Poured from the can, a substantial off-white head crowns a bright golden body. The nose bursts with passionfruit, pineapple, and stone fruit alongside a distinctly dank, pine-forward earthiness. Flavor follows aroma with notes of mango, papaya, passionfruit, and stone fruit before layers of sticky caramel, rustic hay, cereal grain, and resinous pine emerge. Medium-bodied and gently warming, Gen-10 closes with lingering pine resin, earth, and tropical citrus.

It's a beer that feels remarkably at home on a sunny Pacific Northwest afternoon—where tropical brightness meets evergreen intensity, much like the landscape itself. 🍺🌲☀️

pFreal from Firestone Walker Brewing Company & pFriem Family Brewers bursts with dank cannabis, citrus, tropical fruit, and peach. Medium-bodied with an earthy, lingering bitterness. Missed this year's fest—hoping for next year's! 🍻

#gifted from #firestonewalkerbrewing we reflected on this hard to find release.

Cracking open a can of pFreal, it makes an immediate impression. A hefty cap of off-white foam rises above a clear pool of dark gold. As the head recedes, it leaves virtually no lacing behind, allowing the beer’s brilliant color to take center stage.

A swirl of the glass reveals pungent notes of dank cannabis, followed by orange and tropical citrus and ripe stone fruit, particularly peach. The aroma is bold, expressive, and unmistakably hop-forward.

On the palate, tropical fruit and orange citrus lead the way, joined by layers of peach and other stone-fruit character. A touch of graininess emerges through the middle, adding balance before the beer finishes with a burst of dank cannabis. Despite that resinous note, the lingering bitterness leans more earthy than dank, providing a satisfying and nuanced conclusion. A medium mouthfeel and gentle alcoholic warmth round out the experience.

This collaboration between Firestone Walker Brewing Company and pFriem Family Brewers showcases a deft balance of juicy hop character, resinous aromatics, and drinkability. It’s a beer that rewards slow appreciation while remaining remarkably approachable.

While we missed this year’s Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Fest, beers like pFreal only heighten our anticipation for next year’s gathering. Here’s hoping we can make the trip and raise a glass alongside some of the best breweries in the business.

I recently received a six-pack of Sunglider Golden Lager from #FirestoneWalkerBrewing, a limited-release seasonal #beer brewed with sustainable malt and hops. Part of the company’s Brewing for Tomorrow initiative, Sunglider is brewed with California-grown “Butta-12” barley that is floor malted, and Salmon-Safe hops from Oregon’s Goschie Farms.

#FirestoneWalkerBrewing is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, and (presumably) to kick of the celebration, the brewery recently sent me a number of beers to review, including the revamped IPA Mixed Pack and a six-pack of its original #beer Double Barrel Ale, which was the first beer released back in 1996.
