Awarded by the European Commission, the title recognises destinations leading in innovative tourism. Tampere was chosen for its digital services, sustainable initiatives and rich cultural heritage.

Officials highlighted the city’s combination of #accessibility, nature and culture with digital tools that enhance experiences for visitors and residents. The programme also introduces local businesses and partner destinations across Finland, boosting collaboration and international visibility while showcasing attractions such as the Moomins and sauna culture.
