And a finish.

Seven Japanese indigo cotton chair covers - totally cat fur magnets, but the fur just brushes off easily.

Machine quilted top with a simply cotton batting and calico back. The rest was hand sewn and the seams overlocked for reinforcement. The edge from side to back was also reinforced with black cotton twill tape. This project ate four spools of Gutermann denim thread. The loops at the back of the chairs are a cotton rope, toggles are separate so the wood doesn’t go through the washing machine.

The original Ikea chair covers are wonderfully washable, but you have to unscrew the seats to get them off. As the elderly Cookie now eats (messily) from hands, oft on these chair, we needed something much more easily washed, and swapped out when guests are here. I wanted it to be very steam iron-able too, for that extra level of sanitising.

Finished object 2/2

A fluffy scarf for my kid, who wanted one for cold days. Yarn is knit picks fable fur and it is absurdly soft. Kid says I should have bought more and has requested I make him some very fluffy socks with the second ball.

I'm calling these my RV socks since the first one was mostly knit in the RV. Honestly I thought I'd finish a pair of socks on the trip but I spent more time playing games with my kid and that's good too. ❤️

Yarn is from Mudpunch, I think this was "Gathering of Curiosities" but I'm too lazy to leave my coffee and find the ball band right now. I hadn't tried to make them match perfectly but it worked out that way!

New pants!

These are the Morden pants from @threadtheorydesigns . It's a new pattern for me and these are essentially a wearable mock-up made of some leftover fabric from another project.

These have lots of clever details (articulated knees! Gusseted construction! Extra pockets! Reinforced knees!) that made them a little more complicated to sew than my previous pants patterns.

The instructions were pretty great. I really appreciate that the included instructions for various length adjustments. Probably I should have adjusted the rise, but I decided to make them (mostly) as written the first time.

They're comfy enough, though I might play with the fit at the waist a little more yet. Removing several inches at the waist was the one adjustment I didn't have a choice about making. I'm thinking an elasticised back waist might help too.

Wrapped up The Graveyard Yew from Noctiflora Designs - this is an older pattern from a themed box - but it captures the winter vibe really well.

I finished my newest design! Amazing what you can crank out when your coping mechanism is knitting and crocheting. Note this took 2 years to finish, but about half of it was finished in a weekend. #knit #handmade #knitting #fo #finishedobject #design
