North (1994). Did you get it?

Maybe you've never heard of the movie or you might have been thrown off by Scarlett Johansson (her feature film debut). I was quite proud to have recognized her as a kid without even knowing she was in it.

I remember looking forward to seeing the North back in 1994 but the wave a negative reactions from the critics and public kept me away for thirty year. On a whim I decided to give it a go without any positive expectations.

This isn't a good movie or a bad movie. It is silly. It has embarrassing parts (Alaska in particular). On the other hand I laughed aloud at several jokes. Expectations matter a lot. The film simply cannot deliver what you want from Rob Reiner or the cast. It is aggressively mediocre.

North tries to deliver some sort of message but it fails to do so. The ending was the worst thing about the film. The voice-over is also off-putting at times.
