Eigentlich müsste dieser Film ja schwarzweiß sein. Das hätte die Tradition und die Zeit, in der er spielt, wohl hergegeben. Allerdings wäre in Hollywoods Schwarzer-Serie ein schwarzer Hauptdarsteller noch schlicht unvorstellbar gewesen. Vielleicht hat es wirklich erst einen Weltstar gebraucht, um 50 Jahre danach diese schwarz/weiße Geschichte zu erzählen. Mit Denzel Washington, Tom Sizemore, Jennifer Beals und Don Cheadle.
