AUTOUR DU FEU - THE CIRCLE OF FIRE

Documentary: Laura Cazador & Amanda Cortés 2024 – original German with subtitles – 80 mins.

Jacques Fasel and Daniel Bloch spend a night sitting around a campfire in the woods with three young activists from the climate movement and anti-racist collectives – discussing forms of resistance and repression over time.

In the 1970s, the anarchist Jacques Fasel and his gang raided post offices and cash-in-transit vehicles in French-speaking Switzerland; they used the loot to fund autonomous projects.

“We took pleasure in waging social war. The term ‘revolutionary’ was apt because we believed the revolution would take place in our lifetime.

I supported the anti-nuclear movement, the anti-prison movement and smaller projects such as independent radio stations and a theatre group.”

He was often arrested, spent long periods in prison and escaped several times.

“Prison made me stronger,”
