Very excited that #FiberuaryChallenge has made it here! I did #fiberuary a couple of years ago and met some great people and saw lovely work here because of it.

Intro post from me - I’m London-based, always knitting and/ or sewing, with a bit of tapestry, embroidery, occasional weaving and mending on the side

The plying's done, and this morning I wound the yarn into skeins so I can wash it. 8 ounces of three-ply yarn, 924 yards before washing. (The yarn will almost certainly floof and lose a few yards in the wash, which is desired. I'll re-measure when I wind it up to knit with.)

My next project will be a gradient spin.

One of the kiddos wasn't interested in the board game that was going on, so I brought out the Pollywog and taught her to spin. She got the basics pretty quickly and went home with a little ball of her very own yarn.

What a great way to kick off #fiberuary! 🧶

Anyone got any plans for #fiberuary this year?

@jocelyn hi Jocelyn, I know you’ve got about a million tips now, so might be a bit overwhelmed! One thing I found was super-useful for getting to know more #knitting and #sewing friends here was to follow a few events too - great posts on #fiberuary #memademay and #fallfinishalong gave me some more ideas about who would be good to follow. All very seasonal, but I have found some fantastic people as a result, hope that you do too

For this years #fiberuary I challenge myself to #destash.

We're talking about some serious destashing. I have bags and bags of raw fleeces that I want to wash, dry and card by the end of the month. Not sure if this is even possible.

One of the bottlenecks apart from carding is drying the fleeces. It takes up to three days to dry, depending on the weather.

Been knitting up the previous pile of handspun. Pantsing a kind of wrap. I hope the yarn can take being frogged if necessary. Meanwhile, trying some mixed BFL spun long draw from the tip as a palate cleanser while I consider another larger stash busting project.
