So, I'm going way out of my comfort zone and have signed up for multiple events within the world of fetlife, all virtual events. The first one is a munch, just to get to know people and understand this world and how people generally are and hopefully, make friends in the process. That event is tomorrow night. The second event is on Saturday and its getting into level 3 territory as its a full on virtual sex party. I've never been to one so there's a first time for everything. The third event is on November first, and its for blind people in the kink world, its a play event and discussion thing, as I understand it. I've been curious about this kind of thing within the disability community and now I'll get an idea of what its like. well, regardless, its going to be new and fun and out of my comfort zone, but I'm very excited, because its something I've never done before and I would like to express myself in this way too, because I feel if people are going to get to know me, they should get to know, if comfortable, the genuine more unfiltered parts of me. #Kink #Fetlife

(It is really not hard to approach me. I had someone who speaks Spanish approach me on Delta Chat yesterday. We had a nice chat, mostly in Spanish. The difference is that this person did not just go "Hey!" They told me how they got my contact info, etc. You know... a modicum of information.)

@kyhwana I wish "progressive" places got the memo too.

No matter how much you just want to "protect the kids/vulnerable/users" on your platform, stop demanding verification like that!

All of the queer online communities with photo verification can seriously fuck off.

And #Fetlife for example still holds your account hostage whenever anyone reports you for any reason, unless you send them an uncensored ID picture to unlock your account. No way to delete the account either!

Great for trans people, people in dangerous situations or anyone who doesn't want to be outed in the inevitable data leak!

So, I've been getting back on fetlife and honestly now? I don't feel intimidated by it any more.
The people are very nice and tame people like me are definitely a large group for which I am grateful.
I had this thought that only hard core kinksters went there but now I know that this isn't true and it feels liberating.

There's a one-day account deactivation protest happening on #FetLife about the platform moderators' regular disregard for its Black members (and other minoritised users), and their inability and unwillingness to deal with flagrant racism.

On the godsforsaken fetish site, exposing users for racist harassment gets you put in time out.

Needless to say, a flood of apologetics for white supremacism is already dismissing very obviously targeted racial harassment as misplaced horniness, because of course, while other posts are full of the kind of racial slurs that would catch a full server suspension from me as a moderator here.

But hey, what would you expect from a site where people's fucking skin colour is treated as a paraphilia.
