@poppacalypse years ago, I covered medical facility design. This one time I toured a clinic I was writing about with Feng Shui consultants and building architects separately.

What I found was they often pointed out the same things, but had different rationales for them.

Q: Why is the staircase there instead of here?

Feng Shui: it’s placed where energy will be free and flowing for the prosperity of the clinic and its patients.

Architects: it’s fire code. It makes it easiest for people to get out of the building in the event of an emergency.

After that I went and compared other Feng Shui reports against fire and safety guidelines. There was plenty of consensus, just different rationales.

People getting trampled to death near the door if a fire breaks out is no doubt bad energy and bad for prosperity, right? Or even just that possibility could produce unease that would push someone to choose other options if they could.
