This public commission titled Let's face it! 2022, is three part stone sculptures forming a face from certain viewpoints. Here I was commissioned by The Swedish public art agency / Statens Konstråd and Folkets Hus & Parker to create an outdoor installation that also can be used. It was installed Nov 2022. The #huskvarna #folketspark is one of Sweden's biggest #folkparks that produces amazing summer gigs and is hosting sometimes 7000 people. My sculptures wanted to respond to different aspects of timelines; humans, geology and insects. But also the thing that makes us human, laughter, singing and communicating. The tongue taken out of the mouth is a very alien thing as it can transform the most exquisite thought into words and also be a slippery, sexy, cannibalistic muscle often not seen. The 3 sculptures are made with Swedish leftover stones from industry allowing me to play with textures and intarsia such as the 'eye' part hosted on a plinth made up of 3 different granite that look different depending on how it's been carved or polished. The double nose is one piece of my favourite granite red #vånga and is cross hammered making one part pink and the other half is high polished making it deep red. You can sit at the base and if one like it you can fit your head up the nostril and be a human boogey from a stone nose. Every part has a double which means it transforms into a mushroom, a slug or a duck or an eye, nose & a tongue depending on where you stand. #art #sculpture #stonework #publicart #offentligkonst #femalesculptor #humor #body #craftskills #lindapersson #letsfaceit

I will share some public works I've been doing since 2020 the start of COVID until now. The Eye #👁️ has been a protagonist in my work for a long time. Ive especially been interested in the eye of Horus from Egyptian culture but also on a pure ocular level. The eye has many connotations in different cultures. For me it's not about the 'all seeing eye' but the idea is more introverted where the surface becomes inert, a visual object illuminating backwards into the soft darkness. This work #blickfång #eyecatcher is a public piece as a lamppost where I created a flirting eye that is at dusk ignited by a led light changing the colour from blue, green, yellow, red. #📸 @SaraAppelgren The other piece is a wall based piece called the Eye and was first made for a show in Tasmania at #privateprojects. It was later shown at #galerievangelder in #amsterdam as part of my solo show 'new moons and old bones' 2019/20. So yes, these were born into COVID times just before lockdown everywhere.
