Kyu, Ayira, Kazim - Happy Pride

After posting another Pride Drawing of Sieba and Nertus from my backburner project, I also wanted to draw the characters from Kyu's Story, that identify in a pride-ish way :)

We've got in order: Kyu, Ayira and Kazim.

Kyu is my MC for my current WIP, as of yet without a title. She's aro/ace and not interested :P

Ayira, while growing up somewhat secluded, doesn't want to limit herself. Besides her parents are somewhat unconventional, so why not her?

Speaking of, Kazim is non-binary, but presents male most of the time. They're a primordial being and were able to shapeshift until recently, making properly identifying with a particular gender too much of a hassle. They're fine with They/Them or He/Him, but prefers Your Holiness (he's a sarcastic joker, who believes everybody beneath him, don't believe everything he says :P)

Ayira was raised with a lot of pressure and expectations foisted upon her. Having a primordial being as a parent, there was a hope she'd develop extraordinary powers. But that hope died when she was showed the limits of a human mage. Stronger than average, but not exceptional.

But even if her primordial parents was disappointed, her mother made sure Ayira's magical and non-magical abilities were nurtured and strengthened. If only to keep her safe in a world, that fears and abhors magic.

When her primordial parent sets out to confront a new scheme by the invading wraith, she follows them and gives them no choice but to accept her help in the matter. Reluctantly, they agree and Ayira gets a chance to prove she's not a disappointment.

To her, failing is not an option, as it'd mean losing her only chance of being accepted by her parent.

Sent to stage the distraction by herself, she encounters a wraith. As it turns out, it's not just any wraith but one of the first to enter the world some six decades ago. One of the few, who are very comfortable in their conundrum of a world physically rejecting them, making them live in carcasses.

And that wraith smells its chance for a new body, powerful in its make and an opportunity to end the primordial being after them.

Sieba and Nertus - Happy Pride

I decided I'm gonna draw my queer characters for pride month, and the most obvious ones are Sieba and Nertus for sure. They're probably the characters in the most healthy relationship, at least in my roster, lol. Happy Pride!

This was supposed to be "just a doodle".... nothing just or doodle about it anymore. I guess, sometimes you need to follow where your creativity is going.

Either way, I present you with a glimpse of Kyu before she was Kyu.

At the time the story takes place, she's lost her memories and has about lost hope of ever regaining them. (Aaaaaand, she won't, that hard drive is wiped clean.) Sometimes there are glimpses, images, but at best they're like déjà vu, nothing tangible and lacking all sorts of context.
While trying on some fancier clothes for a festival there is a short moment of familiarity, but it goes as quickly as it appeared.

(Also, I'm jealous of that hair volume xD)

The Oncoming Storm

I love painting Kyu and the ocean. They are very closely linked in my current story WIP, so it feels natural.

Kyu is an amnesiac, who washed ashore close to a port city. In order to find her place in the world and her roots, she travels a lot. But there is always a part of her that is especially drawn to the ocean, as she knows the mystery of her identity lies beyond it.

In this particular piece, there's also a storm approaching from the ocean. I wanted a bit more tension and foreboding in this painting.

Some years ago, while still working on Soul's Journey and having Kyu's story already on the backburner, I had another story idea cooking at the back of my brain. It came while I was musing about taking part in NaNoWriMo and I quite liked it.

The story went as follows:

"Elisabeth Crawford is a con artist, her goal is to find dirt on her victims to in term blackmail them. However, she's just one link in a chain of an organisation operating throughout the country. She's good at what she does, until she met one particular young man. The only target she let go.

And two years after she left him without a word, they meet again. The organisation shows renewed interest and Elisabeth is between a rock and a hard place."

I'm still fond of the idea and will quite likely revisit it. However, before I do so, I should probably practise writing some romance first, cause that's where this fell apart for me before, lol
