...Anyway, Pinocchio & Wizard of Oz are fantasy - Collodi doesn't literally think you can carve a real boy out of wood. They're metaphors. Sam Altman & his #FellowTravelers / #FellowTravellers think about this very literally, or at least pretend to: what they're selling is the literal claim that there's no such thing as an inner life. (Or at least that, if there is, it's kind of an inverse epiphenomenon emerging from stacked behaviors. Which misunderstands both causality & epiphenomena, but 🤷.)

Fellow Travelers is doing very well so far in driving and hitting the emotions in every episode. Though I must say episode three alone is already one heart-wrenching, deep-in-the-thoughts, almost frustratingly-sorrowful, but thoroughly and beautifully put out episode.

There's still more to come so I'm pretty much hooked for the next month or so!

Though if we're being accurate, Taibbi gave his podcast an inaccurate name: They're more #FellowTravelers / #FellowTravellers than #UsefulIdiots.

There's an important distinction that should be drawn, IMO: Fellow Travelers know they're lying*; useful idiots think they're spreading truth. Taibbi e.g. can't plausibly be said to believe his own #bullshit.

*...tho they may be deluded in their own ideology, which is origin of the original epithet.
