Went outside again & it’s raining heavier than before.

Stuff it! I attacked the #OldPear #tomato planter.

Wow! The old pear was deeply rooted & its roots were all through the planter.

I’d taken an old bayonet out with me (something my paternal grandfather taught me about bayonets being good, tough garden tools) & dug around for about 10 minutes.

Finally the tomato plant succumbed to my attack & I’d destroyed its root system.

The final #feijoa destined for a pot is potted

I’m muddy & hot.😓

I went outside all rugged up & determined to continue my #feijoa planting.

It’s still cool & raining, I’m still sick & coughing; so I did an about face & came inside.

The #alpacas & #sheep are FINALLY preferring to graze on the grass than chew on lucerne bales. I think they can go without my feeding them for a day.

(They’ve been ignoring me for about a week now when I go out with feed. They look up & continue grazing) 🤗

Following up on @John latest interests, a couple of recipes for #Feijoa.

FEIJOA FEIJOA

My plans for spraying the #feijoa for #GuavaMoth #larvae & #LeafRoller #caterpillars have gone out the window with the rain.

Ditto whipper snippering. “Do not use on wet grass!” it says on my machine, so I’ll heed the manufacturer’s advice.

The #BigPear #tomato might come down today. We had a final harvest last night of 11 large, but still green, tomatoes.

It’s planter will become home to one of the Feijoa.

The rest will go into the ground where the #JerusalemArtichokes are now.

Good morning Fedi friends. It’s not going to be a warm day today at all, although it was an ok 8c when I got up it’s only going to reach 16c. The sky is very dark & getting darker, no rain has fallen yet but we will get some for sure.
Nine feijoas dropped overnight, they’ll be dropping regularly now. I’ll definitely stop in at Kmart for an inexpensive dehydrator on the way home from my sisters today. I looked online & it seems they have a 4+ star rating. Not much else in the agenda today, just the usual.
Hope you all enjoy your #Sunday, stay safe, stay dry 🌻. #Weather #Garden #Feijoa

The main #CherokeePurple plants have been removed from their planter.

Only one had a decent root system, the other two’s roots were barely below the surface.

Hmmm 🤔

The #Feijoa are totally root bound in their Daley’s pots.

I had to soak the plant I put in the Cherokee planter for some time to free it for planting.

I came back inside after that as I’m still feeling very weak.

As I came in #Bunnings pulled in & delivered the 6 big bags of mulch I’d ordered directly behind the car!

*sigh*

@feather1952

There’s a company in #Aotearoa that sells dehydrated #feijoa in bags, like potato crisps.

They cut off the top & end of the fruit, peel them & then dehydrate.

@feather1952

We’ve just arrived at #Bunnings to buy some #Yates Ultra Insect Control as we spotted a green grub in one of the #feijoa as we were unpacking them. 🤞

A large carton just arrived from #DaleysFruit!!!

5 x #Feijoa plants! They were pruned for packing & they are just under a metre tall.

I went outside intending to garden & just felt so weak. 😟

I did manage to eat 2 #feijoa & extract the seeds.

They are now in a pot, & are weighed down, in a resealable bag with wet paper towels.

My better half arrived home from her hospital tests while I was outside.

I was wrong. The tests today were for her wrists not her lymph nodes.
