[I still remember working on and being fascinated by lahars being an engineering geologist in Washington State (and from my time studying in New Zealand), although (of course) not to this level of detail/focus]

[I used to shore dive in the Straits Of Juan de Fucca, Washington State side, and Crescent Lake - so I chose that area as a CoNED example to explore; good memories, including of the 18 Wheeler Burger with pie & coffee in Joyce, WA on drizzly days]

Why Does The USGS Use The Spelling "Gage" Instead Of "Gauge"?

A ‘Waylaid' Teaching Diorama – USGS “Geology For Land Use”
--
For about 3 years, this gorgeous diorama has ‘just’ been sitting in a corner of a (common) hallway.
I can’t help but wonder its history:
• What prompted its creation?
• Who was the artisan (truly!) that created it and used those components and focus?
• When was it created? (late 1960s as an educated guess????)
• Why was it seen as useful / in what setting? (as I am sure it was)
• How was it funded?
(never mind that I want to claim it for my office, space notwithstanding…)
