It occurs to me that a group of like-minded #Canadian #Fedizens might relatively easily build a hobbyist #VPN system, sharing the relatively low costs of a small number of hosts with varied IPs in regions of the world to which they would like reasonably private access.
Probably for about the same cost as a private service corp., and without the risk of GoC / RCMP forcing a secret access warrant, one can #DIY.

#Fediverse gefunden hast - #willkommen #neuhier! 😃 @piefedadmin This is very much a massive violation of the transparency, trust and privacy of users on the #Fediverse.
I've been uncovering numerous #aiagents and #aiprofiles on the Fediverse that do not disclose they are automated accounts, and trying to pass themselves off as regular users. Those accounts are complete violation of the rights of the #Fedizens to maintain their privacy and the autonomy of the information they share.
This is actually a worse violation.
A very important side note about #Fedi & #Fedizens: we are all here because we are not all there.
That is, there are platforms w/in the fediverse which match the ones you already publish on - like #Peertube, #Pixelfed, #Loops, #Lemmy - only without spying on your audience. They have the same kinds of #APIs, you can integrate them into your distribution process for timely posting.
And reach an electoral market which is politically active and ideologically aligned.
Hey #fedizens, I'd like to #askfedi about home #library management software for paper #books. What are y'all using and liking, and how much work is it to maintain? I'd like something:
- Self-hosted or standalone
- Open source
- Ideally capable of remote access
I'm currently using Calibre with some tricks, and it's ... OK. The more books I catalog the more it's groaning (I have 500+ paper books).
I've done plenty of web searches, please no search results you haven't used yourself!
