I've felt the weight of it for years: the words piling up while the major platforms practice a cycle of pathetic chilling of speech. But I am not suspended. I am charging forward into a future I am building for myself, leaving behind anything and anyone that no longer fits the architecture of that world.

From twenty-four floors up, looking toward Manchester, the fog rolling off the Allegheny feels like a perfect metaphor for the current cultural moment. We can call it a "Great Regression," but from here, you can see its fragility. The momentum of that opposition is puttering out, spiraling into its own emptiness. Fascism is a brittle thing; it lacks the resilience of the human spirit it tries to contain.

I am getting back to the business of saying what needs to be said. The fog is temporary. The landscape, and my resolve to navigate it, is permanent.
