I have just published version 7.1.18 of #FediFetcher

This fixes a couple of bugs and bumps some dependencies, so I advise updating if you are still using FediFetcher.

Many thanks to @GeoffreyFrogeye for their contribution!

Somehow my version of of #FediFetcher has started taking 1hr+ per run yesterday. I haven’t made any changes to either my instance or my FediFetcher settings. I haven’t yet had a chance to properly look into it but was wondering if anyone else has seen anything similar?

So, FediFetcher mal wieder in Betrieb nehmen.

FediFetcher for Mastodon is a Python script that fetches missing replies and posts from other fediverse instances, and adds them to your own instance.

@liaizon That would be great. I've been using @michael's #FediFetcher python script since 2023 to backfill accounts of people. I am not sure how far it goes back when it backfills accounts, though, but it really makes it nice to open a profile and see posts instead of an empty profile.

"It can also backfill profiles on your instance. In particular it can
fetch missing posts from users that have recently appeared in your notifications
fetch missing posts from users that you have recently followed
fetch missing posts from users that have recently followed you
fetch missing posts from users that have recently sent you a follow request
fetch missing posts from users that have recently been added to your lists"

Since v3.0.0 of FediFetcher you can backfill remote accounts, after you have begun following them. This post explains how.

I have now setup FediFetcher for my Akkoma instance.

An essential tool when running a small / singel user instance.
It fetches all remote replies to posts in the home feed (and other stuff if you want).

For anyone running a #gotosocial single user instance: GTS-HolMirDas (German for "get me that" or "fetch me that") might be interesting to you, if you want to fill your timeline with life. It fetches posts matching to hashtags you've set from the fediverse. For single-user instances this is great to see more new people and posts you otherwise never would have discovered.

Creating an app via the GTS settings panel did not work for me. But this did and it was really easy:

You can also use the getauth tool for other apps like FediFetcher.

This may be a super common and known app, but I just installed it and I think it's great.

Did anyone ever deploy fedifetcher with snac?
I'm not asking about mastodon but (https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2)
It seems even consecutive runs take over one hour, I've got duplicates of reply trees in my conversations, while still not seeing all replies there are. Also the "database" increased considerable in size.

I guess it's not fully compatible. But I would like to know what others did with it.
