Blessed #imbolc to all who feel it. It's an unexpectantly sunny day for it, and the birds seem to be celebrating. With a bit of luck, the full moon will be visible tonight.
I hope today brings you all the cleansing and renewal your spirits need. 💚
Today, my first act of cleansing at Imbolc was to delete my Facebook and Messenger accounts. Meta will no longer have its fascist fingers in my online existence, while I continue living in this particular human body or afterwards.
As I mentioned last night, I've decided to finally start walking my path of witchcraft.
And as I mentioned, my first spell will be done on the next new moon, and will have to do with my gender transition.
Specifically, I mean to realign and enhance my E injections, to synchronise them with the phases of the Moon (I already take variable injections to simulate a monthly cycle, so I'll just change the timing so that the apex of my womanhood aligns with the full Moon), to turn the process of taking an injection into a ritual and a celebration of my body and thereby imbue it with energy and make it more powerful.
In a bit of perfect timing, it'll coincide perfectly with my E vial running out and my starting a new one.
I am still working through the details of what I will do, that's why it's good that I have all the time from the full Moon until the new Moon.
But I feel strongly about this. This is the right thing for me to do and an appropriate new start.
I ask and welcome any woman or feminine person out there to lend me a sliver of her feminine energy on the first day of the new moon, if she wishes to do that.
It took me a very long time since I decided to take up witchcraft (EDIT: over a year and a half ago, turns out. That's wild!)
But I've managed to overcome my impostor syndrome, my reluctance to take the plunge, I read enough about witchcraft to know how I want to start, and I've decided on what my first spell will be.
I've started a notebook where I'll write my thoughts and experiences and observations on spells, and the first thing I'll do with it is figure the exact shape of my spell.
Since my spirituality and my womanhood and my transness and my desire to practice magic are all inextricably linked and in some ways are the same thing, my first spell will have to do with, what else, my transition and my body.
It is about to be full moon and with that, I am going to plan and prepare myself mentally and do research and wind down, and cast the spell on the next new moon. It makes the most sense to me.
Wish me luck. This is completely unfamiliar territory for me, but if I'm always afraid of doing something wrong, I'll never take the first step.
This Sunday we'll be halfway to the spring equinox (Imbolc) and it will be a full moon (snow moon). It should be a strong time for renewals and cleansing.
While my path and pantheon aren't all that Celtic, I can always feel this transitional moment very distinctly. The snowbells in my garden are ready to burst, and it feels like my first call of the year to Ēostre. As well as a good excuse to bake some nice bread and start planning my spring gardens.
