Nurse Moving from DHA to VA question
I am a GS12 about to be step 7 (Wednesday). I’m in a location with a higher cost of living so I get a little bit of cola. I’ve been at my current facility for almost 11 yrs and my current role for 3 but been a 12 for about 9 yrs now. Looking at equivalent job titles and I’m not sure how the gs to VN translate. Also the pay is significantly less from just looking at it (VN 00) is almost 50k less which is wayyy more than my cola. I don’t have much keeping me here at this point and my family is all where I’m looking at or at least closer to my family. What VN level would need to equate to my GS. Is the pay really that different for the same/similar position. Are there differences in leave, ect. I actually love my job here so staying wouldnt be the end of the world but my mom is getting up there in years and I wouldn’t mind living somewhere a bit easier at life than my current areaIs the hiring process terribly long like it has historically been for DOD? Thank you for thoughts and insight.
