...in western lands, before #capitalism had fully developed, if a tyrant wanted what you had they simply claimed it for themselves "by authority of the crown of the realm"... which included your food, land, children, wives, what and whoever...and if you resisted, they would just slaughter your tribe, burn down your village, claim the area theirs and build on top of your graves...(or even abandon the land altogether and use your murder to strike fearful blind obedience into other villages.)

...these are the orgins of the same patriarchal tyrants being served today. and yeah, they thought they were the most civilized humans then too...
