this one started with some throwaway comment earlier in the week about wanting to know what buttons to press to make someone infodump for me 😂
We know this might have been a better prompt for Groundhog Day at the beginning of the month, but your fourth and final lycial challenge for FAWM 2024 is: ANAPHORA (or REPETITION).
Repeat a word or phrase at the start of successive lines (or song parts) for emphasis. Examples: "Ain't Got No" (Hair), "Ima Be" (Black Eyed Peas), "Suddenly I See" (KT Tunstall), "Add It Up" (Violent Femmes)

this one is about a few things (big shocker I know) including particularly longing, and (maladaptive) protective prohibition, and some of the layers beneath that.
If you're looking to mix things up, try a song that switches time signature, either between song parts (verse to chorus), or by inserting a bar or two here and there in a different meter! Examples: “Blackbird” (Beatles), “Hey Ya!” (Outkast), “Africa” (Toto), “One” (Metallica)

once again kind of surprised I squeaked out a FAWM entry today 😂 most of my emotional journey this weekend has been "okay len you need to try harder to panic less..."
I'm having a lot of flashbacks to college, where my poor unknowingly ADHD-riddled ass wouldn't be able to finish my homework, so I would skip class to "catch up" and end up writing music instead 😅 I'm not actually ignoring my obligations in order to write music this time, but the energy is the same, you know??

this one is a day later than expected, bc my first attempts at recording it gave me just a fuckload of dysphoria 🙃
feels very good that this one exists, though. I've got a couple of Big Things going on rn and they are the sort of thing that make it very fucking difficult for me to calibrate what I should actually be worrying about, vs what is rumination. been a struggle of a week and I am pleased I put some form to that struggle.
