I captured a Fata Morgana over Lake Erie the other day — a layer of warmer air that sits on top of a layer of colder, denser air.
"Fata Morgana" is derived from Italian for "Fairy Morgana," referring to the Arthurian sorceress Morgan le Fay.
The freighter was just sitting there for an hour as I walked the Buckeye Trail, certain that Canada had closed the Great Lakes from the US at the St. Lawrence Seaway with the help of Greenland, which is what we deserve.
