@jmw @adeese I feel like #TheMagicians did a good job right out of the gate. Also new #BSG which isn't technically a "new property" but also it really is a new property because it's so dissimilar from its source material and intended for audiences who have no knowledge of it.
I think #B5 hits it just fine starting with the first proper episode (as opposed to the pilot movie which is canon but also needs audience participation to rectify with the rest of the series). The characters all feel well-developed to me from the start, but I may just have too much knowledge of the series to be objective about its beginnings. I do think that #Farscape starts with less strength.
I went to check my NAS for other shows and discovered that it turned itself off and won't come up so....I think I'm going into hardware troubleshooting mode now.

¿Sabían que la actriz Claudia Black tuvo que grabar de nuevo casi la totalidad de sus diálogos de la primera temporada de Farscape debido al ruido de los muñecos en el set?
Al interpretar a la piloto y soldado Aeryn Sun en esta producción de ciencia ficción, la actriz se enfrentó a un reto sonoro muy particular durante el rodaje en los estudios de Australia. La nave espacial donde transcurre la historia, llamada Moya, estaba habitada por criaturas y personajes creados por la compañía de Jim Henson, lo que requería el uso constante de sofisticados sistemas mecánicos, motores internos y marionetas complejas para darles vida en tiempo real frente a las cámaras.
El movimiento de los cables, los pequeños motores de los muñecos y la presencia de los titiriteros ocultos en los escenarios generaban un zumbido de fondo constante que los micrófonos de la producción registraban de manera inevitable en cada toma. Debido a que este ruido ambiental arruinaba la claridad de las conversaciones y rompía la atmósfera del espacio, Claudia Black y su compañero de reparto Ben Browder se vieron obligados a encerrarse en un estudio de grabación de audio al terminar la primera temporada para realizar el doblaje de aproximadamente el 88% de todas sus líneas grabadas originalmente en el set.
Además de este esfuerzo de voz, la apariencia del personaje también requirió soluciones creativas por cuestiones de presupuesto y agendas de filmación. Como el cabello natural de la actriz es muy rizado y rebelde, el equipo de estilistas de la serie determinó que alisarlo por completo todas las mañanas tomaba demasiado tiempo y retrasaba el inicio de las grabaciones cotidianas, por lo que diseñaron una peluca especial de tres cuartos que Aeryn Sun utilizó durante el desarrollo de las temporadas avanzadas para optimizar los recursos del programa.

And #Torchwood is just across the … erm … tip of my tongue … named after something … Gulf Of Wales from Brizzle.
