#NYC should make all #buses and #subways #farefree. Actually, all cities should make local #transit free, and fund it by increasing #LandValueTax, since the primary beneficiaries of public #infrastructure investments are always the #landowners.

However, I think there's a short curcuit in your argument:

When you argue that free parking and free use of streets attracts so much cars that they congest — why wouldn't free-fare public transport run into the same fate with passengers? 🤔

Kansas City went fare-free for COVID, and it worked so well they're thinking of making it permanent. Too much $$ to maintain fare boxes and ticket machines, no waiting for people to fumble for change... lots of benefits. #transit #farefree
