The Abnormalities raised many questions, but hearing Binah's convoluted explanations didn't help. Not due to how difficult to follow she could make herself, but because of her moments of striking, cruel clarity.

Every single Abnormality was born from Carmen. There was nothing to misunderstand in this statement. There had been no search, no acquisition from an outside... that many Abnormalities referenced nevertheless. Why?

At first glance, the Great Lake appears shapeless. It's one giant body of water, nothing breaking down its surface into distinct zones. But it couldn't be further from the truth. Each Lake has extremely precise borders, and the Laws only allow for a definite amount of time in each one.

The Waves enforce the rules with absolutely no leeway. This is a place of exactness, where memory is your only shield against immense, crushing power.

Knowing the City is absurdly populated is one thing, but finally getting a glimpse into it is another. Hints of the population density are everywhere Angela can see crowds or buildings through the Invitations.

It puts the rampage of the Pianist and, later, of the Crying Children into perspective, too. How could you avoid any danger from hitting so many people when they are forced to live so close to each other? It's just impossible.

The facility was pure chaos, as a general rule. Handling the Abnormalities felt like juggling way too many balls at once, and dropping one meant taking a train to the face, or any other disaster.

So while it was true that at first X had found Malkuth's demands toward her Agents way too harsh, he had to admit that having people who just obeyed was a life saver. If managing the employees had felt like herding cats he'd have snapped.
