At today’s #FAC, we discussed the latest developments in the Middle East.

🇪🇺–GCC: strengthening our strategic partnership, advancing preparations for the Summit.

🇵🇸: The situation in Gaza remains extremely serious. We continue work on an early recovery package, which requires safe and unhindered humanitarian access.

🇸🇾: today is a historic day. We take a step forward from crisis to recovery for Syria. Reconstruction will require strong international coordination and private investment.

🇩🇿, 🇹🇷, 🇯🇴: Last week’s visits focused on stability, migration, energy, investment, and deeper regional cooperation under the #PactfortheMediterranean.

On 11 and 12 May, EU foreign and defence ministers are gathering in Brussels for the Foreign Affairs Council #FAC

Ministers will discuss Russia’s war of aggression and continued EU support to Ukraine, the war in Iran and its regional impact, as well as the EU’s defence readiness, among other topics.

HR/VP @kajakallas is chairing both meetings.

Foreign Affairs Council

The Foreign Affairs Council exchanged views on the latest developments related to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, including the war in Iran and its effects across the region. Ministers also discussed EU relations with Western Balkans partners and were informed about the outcomes of the updated EU threat analysis. In the margins of the meeting, ministers took part in the high-level meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children and the first High-Level Political Dialogue with Syria.
