I can't sew but my grandma sewed for Ceil Chapman for decades. I used to tear out ads in the NY Times for dresses from Saks Fifth Avenue, hand them to my grandma, and she'd consult with me about the fabric and give me the dress in a day or so.

Looking at the patterns, I think a 13x13 cm cut square can work, although this feels a bit like fussy cutting.
However 13x13 cm (approx 12x12 cm when sewn) will give the patterns a chance to shine, especially when I combine them in the relatively simple St Louis 16 block.
