One of the exciting things at a World Expo is the huge diversity of art, crafts, and artifacts that participating nations bring along to share with the world. Here's a selection of items that were on display in national pavilions...

1. #Bosnia-Herzegovina (a beautiful, intricate metalwork piece)
2. #Paraguay (sand and seed painting by Koki Ruiz)
3. #France (an Enlightenment-era encyclopaedia)
4. #Peru (from a temporary exhibition of the ornaments of the Lord of Sipan)

These are pictures I took of the four of the major pavilions built by the host nation at #Expo2020 in #Dubai The Expo site was largely split into three districts, the Sustainability, Mobility, and Opportunity Districts (named after the three sub-themes of the Expo). Each district was anchored by a thematic pavilion, exploring that theme. The other main pavilion built by the organisers was the #UAE national pavilion.

1. Terra, the Sutainability Pavilion, designed by Grimshaw Architects.
2. A forest of "solar trees" surrounding Terra, which rotate through the day and help to power the Sustainability Pavilion.
3. The Hall of Consumption was an exhibit inside Terra which prompted visitors to consider their consumer choices and the impact they have on our planet.
4. Alif, the Mobilty Pavilion, designed by Foster & Partners, explored the history of mobility, transport, and exploration. The building contained the world's largest passenger lift.
5. The Giants of Mobility, an exhibit within Alif three enormous hyper-realistic figures depicting legendary explorers Al Bakri, Ibn Battuta, and Ahmad bin Majid
6. Mission Possible, the Opportunity Pavilion, told the story of projects around the world that improve people lives and works towards meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals
7. and 8. The UAE Pavilion was designed by Santiago Calatrava and was inspired by a falcon (the national bird of the UAE) in flight.
