It should've been a lesson for the world on the dangers of revolutions run amok. Instead future revolutionaries used it as a how to manual.

Although, a small part of my brain wonders if I could make money selling guillotine replicas. With rubber blades of course. Then again, I should remember what happened to Danton.

"A National Scandal"

U.S. excess deaths continued to rise, even after pandemic deaths began to decline, far out-pacing peer countries.

1.5 million excess deaths in 2022-2023 could've been avoided had U.S. death rates matched those of peer countries.

Decade's old trend of increasing excess deaths in the U.S., driven by drug overdoses, gun violence, car crashes, and preventable cardiometabolic diseases, primarily among working age adults.

Excess deaths will likely increase in coming years, thanks to policies of Trump and RFK Jr, especially the cuts to public health budgets, declining access to vaccines, declining regulation of food and water safety, cuts to workplace safety regulation and monitoring and the increases in poverty that will likely result from their inflationary policies.

In his first run for office he was on about "…we'll be doing so much winning, you're gonna get sick of winning…" – I posted this in the following election cycle.

No-one's talking about the circa half-a-million voters who won't be voting for Trump, or anyone for that matter, this cycle, or about his role in our nation reaching that shameful number.

I have thought of a somewhat innovative way to measure civilian deaths in Gaza: a census of Christians. It wouldn't be representative, for numerous reasons, but it's a start.

There were fewer than 1000 Christians, so it is feasible to get a fairly small number of "unaccounted for" within that defined population. They were also better connected to West Bank and diaspora than the average person in Gaza, more of them have extended family outside Gaza.

Ignore the headline. This is a good article about Covid’s ongoing impacts: “The greatest numbers of excess deaths in the acute phase of the pandemic were in older adults. …The pattern now is one of persisting excess deaths, which are most prominent in relative terms in middle-aged and younger adults.” #CovidIsNotOver #maskup #ExcessDeaths #morbidity #mortality #opioids https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2024-08-19/deaths-are-up-post-covid-and-so-are-funeral-stocks-prognosis
Deaths Are Up Post-Covid, and So Are Funeral Stocks: Prognosis

Hi, it’s Jason in Melbourne. Is the Covid-19 pandemic behind us? An upswing in the gloomy business of funerals suggests not. Before I get into that...
