It recognizes a simulation of the full Earth system with the #ICON model at 1.25-km resolution 🌐, which was carried out on the Alps & #exa_JUPITER supercomputers & achieved an unprecedented time compression of 145.7 simulated days per day. Finally, #JUPITER crossed the 1 ExaFLOP/s threshold today. The list is lying to you, though, it's not like it's 1000 PFLOP/s exactly, it's 1000.184 PFLOP/s; the rest got lost to rounding.
The 184 TFLOP/s are pretty much exactly the same as the previous #JSC supercomputer JUGENE from 2008. Incredible, that this gets lost in the margins only 17 years later.

🏆 New Record on JUPITER: Simulating a 50-Qubit #Quantum Computer!

A research team at the JSC, together with experts from NVIDIA, has set a new record: for the first time, a universal quantum computer with 5️⃣ 0️⃣ qubits has been fully simulated on Europe's first Exascale supercomputer #exa_jupiter.

Ein Forschungsteam des @fzj_jsc hat mit Expert:innen von #nvidia einen neuen Simulationsrekord aufgestellt: Erstmals ist es gelungen, das Verhalten eines universellen Quantencomputers mit 50 Qubits vollständig auf einem klassischen #Supercomputer zu simulieren. Für diese rechenintensive Aufgabe kam Europas erster Exascale-Supercomputer zum Einsatz.
