A resistance fighter under Nazi Germany in WWII, artist Eva Schulze-Knabe (1907-1976) was twice sent to a concentration camp - the second time to a life term in a labour camp. Her husband Fritz Schultze was sentenced to death and executed. This self portrait is from 1929.
