The Tomb of François from Vulci enters the state’s heritage.
Masterpiece of Etruscan painting, it has been acquired by the Ministry of Culture and will be permanently exhibited at the Villa Giulia Museum starting June 25th.

The Ministry of Culture is purchasing the Francois tomb, an Etruscan masterpiece valued at 15 million euros.
It belonged to the Torlonia, Sforza Cesarini, and Gaetani families. From June 25th at Villa Giulia.
I saw the Liber Linteus at the #Etruscan Exhibit currently at the Legion of Honor museum in SF.
This is the largest surviving piece of Etruscan text, and there isn't that much else.
It's kind of gobsmacking to realize there was an entire highly literate civilization, almost completely lost, and a big portion of what survives is right in front of you.
Etruscan art is interesting too, and plenty of it is on display here (and although much of it borrows from Greek culture, some pieces show a unique homegrown style). But being a nerd, this manuscript is what made the biggest impact on me.
The Etruscans taught their horses to play checkers. If they got distracted they would sick Fang on them...
