Last week I went to amazing #ethz and #epfl summer school on Optical probing of Nanomaterials in and out of Equilibrium at #ETHZurich to give a 3 hours tutorial about spectroscopic #ellipsometry .
The workshop organizing team had majority of women, and half of the speakers were women. This makes me happy and proud and honored.

Creating perfect randomness is surprisingly difficult. Even modern random number generators never generate completely ideal random numbers: small systematic errors can result in some numbers appearing slightly more frequently than others. For many applications, this does not matter. In cryptography, however, even the tiniest deviations can be problematic.
💁🏻♀️ TIL: Engineers at #ETHZurich built microscopic #nanorobots – only six micrometers wide, smaller than a red blood #cell – that combine neural #stemcells with magnetic nanoparticles that generate electrical signals.
In #mice with severed spinal cords, the #bots stimulated nerve fibers to reconnect. After 28 days, the mice showed major improvements in walking and coordination. Human trials are still years away.
