Years ago, I read a book by Umberto Eco that served as an introduction to semiotics; it takes things back even further.
But etymology is truly fascinating. In German (I’m a native speaker), for example, the word “Freiheit” (freedom) has its roots in “being with friends.” Exploring such echoes within language deepens our capacity for perception and expression.

Aujourd'hui j'ai appris l'origine du mot "toubib" de l'arabe médecin
qui a donné "toubab" par extension pour designer les blancs,
puis est devenu "babtou"...
. La langue arabe est célébrée chaque année le 18 décembre, lors d’une journée mondiale organisée par les Nations unies. L’arabe a irrigué le français, surtout depuis le Moyen Age. Retour aux sources du mot toubib avec le lexicographe Roland Laffitte.
Hab mich gerade gefragt, was die heugabel Englisch pitchfork mit Pech zu tun hat.
Um Pech zu schaufeln wäre ja ein Löffel vermutlich besser geeignet. 🤔
Turns out: pitch ist irgendwie ein englisches Universalwort. Kann quasi fast alles heißen.
Im Zusammenhang mit der Gabel so was wie aufhäufen wenn ich es richtig sehe.
