Grande impresa di Yeman Crippa in Francia. L’azzurro trionfa alla Maratona di Parigi, una delle più grandi al mondo, con quasi 60mila partecipanti al via, siglando il primato personale di 2h05:18. È il primo italiano della storia a conquistare i 42,195 km della capitale francese, una gara che un atleta europeo non vinceva da ben 24 anni. Per il trentino delle Fiamme Oro, tre ori agli Europei e primatista azzurro di tutte le misure del mezzo fondo, è forse la vittoria più importante della carriera. Sicuramente quella che lo lancia in una nuova dimensione, anche in vista delle Olimpiadi di Los Angeles 2028.
Crippa, abbracciato da papà Roberto, da coach Massimo Pegoretti e dal manager Gianni Demadonna subito dopo il traguardo, ha preso la testa della gara quando mancavano circa cinque chilometri, all’interno del parco Bois de Boulogne, polmone verde di Parigi, e poi ha sferrato l’attacco decisivo a un chilometro e mezzo dal termine, in un tratto in pavè in leggera discesa, staccando l’etiope Bayelign Teshager, il keniano Sila Kiptoo e il gibutiano Mohamed Ismail. “È stato incredibile – ha raccontato Crippa – intorno al 33esimo chilometro ho capito che sarebbe stata la mia giornata e quando al 39esimo ho visto che gli avversari facevano fatica, ho deciso di attaccare“.
Quella di oggi lungo la Senna e all’ombra della Torre Eiffel era la settima maratona in carriera per Yeman Crippa, che ha debuttato tre anni fa a Milano, dopo una brillante carriera in pista. “La mia carriera da maratoneta inizia oggi – ha esultato – finalmente ho trovato la strada giusta“. “Oggi mi sono riscattato dal 25esimo posto di Parigi ai Giochi Olimpici e si apre una pagina tutta nuova, stamattina ho scoperto di avere feeling con la maratona”, ha dichiarato Crippa.
