The real legacy of the death of Leah Betts from an #MDMA overdose was a massive backlash, a fuckton of #prohibition across #Essex and the whole of #EastAnglia and a clamp down on "rave-type events" (legal ones were locked off, forcing young people to hold unlicensed and less safe events) - it achieved little (and took 10 more years to totally start locking off the underground #rave scene ), and ultimately pushed young people towards more addictive and problematic substances like #ketamine and even harder #drugs like #cocaine and #heroin - which still kill a lot of people even today.
I saw this all happen with my own eyes over 30 years in both SE England and East Anglia (where I moved in 2006), and there still isn't proper #testing and #harmreduction even today
